There are certain types of porn which will always prove to be popular. These are the types of videos we are constantly searching for. For some people they always look for lesbian porn, while others are eager to look at anal sex. Whatever our desires, we know the kind of porn we want.
However, it seems that the kind of porn we are getting might not be the porn we want. Porn producers are making content that may not match our desires in the same way, so what is the difference?
Our thoughts about porn
Jon Millward, a data journalist, decided to take a look deep inside the porn industry, by looking at 10,000 porn stars and their careers. In this study, he discovered a number of different things that challenged our perception of porn.
For example, if we were to sit and think about the average female porn star, we might imagine a woman with blonde hair and large breasts. However, it seems that we are very wrong about the appearance of the average female porn star.
Millward discovered that 39.1% of female porn stars had brown hair, with blonde coming in a close second at 32.7%. He also found that the average chest size for female stars was 34B and not the 32GG we were all imagining it would be.
In this study he also examined the number of porn stars who had performed certain sexual acts throughout their careers, discovering that 87% of stars had taken a facial, with 62% doing ana and 53% trying interracial. But that’s not all.
One of the most interesting things was the roles women play in different porn films. He wanted to know the most common female roles that appear in porn.
Most popular roles in porn
There are certain roles and certain types of porn we’ll see a lot of. These are the ones seen as the most popular, and so porn producers will keep making them. In his research, Millward took a look at the most common roles as they appeared in film titles.
The most popular by far was “teen”. He found 1,966 titles featuring this role in his research, showing that stars around 18 or 19 were the most popular. “Teens really wipe the floor with the rest”, he stated in his study.
The next most popular role was “MILF”. This seemed to be a popular theme, as “MILF” had 954 titles to its name, “wife” had 499, and “cougar””had 257. With age comes wisdom and apparently attraction in porn!
Other roles such as “cheerleader” and “nurse” appeared, but unsurprisingly so did a number of relations such as “daughter” and “sister”. Taboo porn is on the rise, and producers are reacting to this by creating more for others to watch.

The most popular porn searches
Millward’s study is only two years old, but it seems that the times have changed a little since this study took place. PornMD regularly updates to show the most popular searches around the world and in certain countries, telling us what kind of porn we want.
Taboo isn’t as high on the list of porn producers are making, but it is for the porn we want. In fact, PornMD’s global top 10 searches puts “mom son” in the number one spot. And this isn’t the only time taboo porn features in the top 10.
Taboo porn features in 4 of the 10 top searches, with “mom son”, “step sister”, “mom”, and “sister” all making appearances. The fact that it is a taboo clearly just makes it all the more interesting for people to search for.
“MILF” sits in position 6 for the most popular searches, but most surprising of all is that “teen” is at number 5. Considering Millward had “teen” porn ranked so highly, this is a shock. It seems that “teen” just isn’t the porn we want!
The porn we want
Although there are some similarities between the porn we get and the porn we want, it seems that the content we really want isn’t being produced as quickly as we’d like. This might explain why there are so many amateur porn videos available on our favourite sites, in an effort to meet the demands.
