Kirkcaldy is a town in Fife on the east coast of Scotland. It is approximately 18.6 miles north of Edinburgh and 44.4 miles south-southwest of Dundee.
Early industries in Kirkcaldy included textiles, nailmaking and salt panning. During the 19th and 20th centuries, Kirkcaldy became a leading producer of linoleum. The town expanded considerably in the 1950's and 1960's, though this slowed down with the decline of the linoleum industry.

The main bus station is between Hill Place and Hunter Street. The Kirkcaldy railway station is to the north-west of the town centre and is on the route for the Fife Circle Line and the East Coast Main Line.
Kirkcaldy has been home to a number of famous people. Darts legend Jocky Wilson lived in the area until his death in 2012, whilst former PM Gordon Brown lived in Kirkcaldy from the age of three ownwards.
